Do you think I should go to school for nursing as a fall back, and then pursue my dreams?

It depends on your career goal. If you want to using nursing as a way to develop into a doctor, nurse anesthetist, or physician istant then a four year nursing program is a good start. However if you are thinking journalist or something completely different than nursing you will find that you are not happy in nursing and that you spent time doing something you did not like. My advice do something because you like it and want to do it, not because it is something that pays money.
