Does glycerin to make yourself cry when acting in a movie, hurt your eyes a lot???

You know, like in bollywood movies when there are emotional scenes... does anyone know how it makes your eyes water and if there is any pain involved at all? thnxxxxx!!! and plz b honest cause my friend's kindav shooting a movie so ya... lol.
