Did I actually reject him? Does he think i have been making a fool out of him all the time?

I like him, he likes me, but we`re both shy.He sent me an e-mail to which i replied, but it was formal, something about homework.Then he sent me another one, more personla this time, he said he was pleasantly surprised that i wrote so much and things like that. I didn`t reply, because he also said he was at work and about to go home.In cl I just smile and don`t talk much, it`s not that i don`t want to, i just don`t feel that comforable with all my friends around us.I think he got a feeling that I am playing with him, making a fool out of him, I think he doesn`t belive i am shy.So noe he is acing a bit colder.Did my behaviour confuse him?What can i do now, I want to get to know him better.Should I ask him for coffee (but that`s impossible after cl, there is always my best friend and she wants to go for coffee after cl with me and just won`t give me a break sometimes).I would like to talk to him in private.How can i do this and do you think he is still interested?
